San Francisco, CA., (Feb. 19, 2012, via SFGate) -- My editor (age withheld) shuddered when I told her I had an item about what folks are thinking when they think about retirement.

Here's a clue: Most of them think the 49ers will win the Super Bowl before they get there.

Actually, it may not be quite as dire as my editor fears, if a new survey of Bay Area "pre-retirees" is to be believed. Most, for example, think they'll have enough money to live the good life through their golden years. Less than half believe they'll have to continue working.
BARTOW, Fla., (Feb. 17, 2012, PRNewswire via COMTEX) -- Even for the wellness-minded woman, calorie counting, portion distortion and intense cravings can hinder the impact of an exercise regimen. According to a recent survey, less than half of women (48 percent) who exercise at least once per week have seen any desired result since beginning their routine.[1] A potential cause? Eight in 10 of the women surveyed (82 percent) admit they struggle with poor nutrition habits. These may include succumbing to cravings of foods that lack nutrient density, indulging in oversized portions, and a lack of knowledge about how many calories they should or do consume while participating in a fitness regimen.

Belleville, IL., (October 28, 2011, PRWEB) Taking care of their personal health, lack of respite care and meeting monthly financial needs are the top concerns cited by 1,579 family caregivers, according to a survey by The National Family Caregivers Association (NFCA) and Allsup. Allsup is a nationwide provider of Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) representation and Medicare plan selection services.

The NFCA/Allsup Family Caregiver Survey of NFCA members offers compelling insight into family caregivers’ concerns and needs. Nationally, there are more than 65 million family caregivers providing care to aging or disabled family members.

The NFCA/Allsup Family Caregiver Survey was an online survey of 1,579 family caregiver members of National Family Caregivers Association who subscribe to the organization’s E-letter. Surveys were completed in March and April of 2011. This is not a random sample of all caregivers. However, the findings provide important insights to the challenges and issues facing this group of higher burden family caregivers. Richard Day Research, an independent market research firm based in Evanston, Ill., was responsible for data management, analysis and reporting.

BARTOW, Fla., (Nov. 1, 2011, PRNewswire via COMTEX) -- Americans have been enjoying the great taste of orange juice for decades, and now research suggests they may turn to this refreshing beverage for how it makes them feel. A new study from the Florida Department of Citrus found drinking orange juice actually made participants feel positive, carefree and rejuvenated.

...

The link between orange juice and a more positive outlook revealed through in-depth interviews with a small group of participants was also supported by a recent survey of 1,002 adults nationwide, which showed more than half of the respondents believe drinking a glass of orange juice provides an energizing boost, while 33 percent said it is a simple way to help improve their mood. Furthermore, when American adults drink orange juice, 56 percent of those surveyed said they feel rejuvenated, followed by calm, positive, happy and alive.

VERNON HILLS, Ill., (Oct 18, 2011, BUSINESS WIRE) — ... The latest CDW IT Monitor revealed lower expectations for budget increases and hiring, along with a drop in overall hardware spending. However, increases in software spending and a more optimistic outlook in key sectors, including small business and healthcare IT, brought balance to the broader IT sentiment.

While the latest wave of the CDW IT Monitor noted numerous fluctuations among sectors and industries surveyed, the comprehensive figures indicate that, on the whole, IT sentiment is holding steady. The Six Month Growth Outlook, which measures long-term anticipated investment, decreased one point from June to 67 and was unchanged from one year ago.

BARTOW, Fla., (Sept. 20, 2011, PRNewswire) — According to a new consumer survey, although many Americans dread coming down with a cold or the flu, they often wait to take any precautions against catching it, which may sideline them from their family, work and social activities. In fact, 50 percent of adults either wait until the onset of symptoms to take any action against a cold or the flu or they don't take any extra measures to prevent catching an illness.

BELLEVILLE, IL, Oct 04, 2011 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) — Younger seniors and baby boomers are more engaged in their Medicare coverage and more willing to make changes to ensure it meets their needs, according to a national survey of seniors enrolled in Medicare. The Allsup Medicare Advisor Seniors Survey, commissioned by Allsup and conducted by Richard Day Research (RDR), indicates age is a primary driver of attitudes toward current Medicare coverage, future intentions of changing plans and active use of free preventive care services. Allsup is a nationwide provider of Medicare plan selection and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) representation services.

COLUMBUS, Ohio, (July 25, 2011, PRNewswire) - The daily commute of Columbus drivers isn't generally as stressful as that of other U.S. cities, according to research from Kiplinger, but a recent survey commissioned by BP Products North America Inc suggests there is room for improvement. From impacted moods to concerns over wear and tear, Columbus drivers are familiar with the burdens of commuting, yet three out of four drivers don't deviate from their usual routine in order to improve it. In an effort to introduce Columbus drivers to various local commuting solutions, BP has launched it's first-ever "Commute Better" program, focusing on the little things that can improve the quality of commuters' daily travel this summer.
(Jul. 19, 2011 - BUSINESS WIRE) Economic uncertainty has resulted in a mixed outlook among IT decision-makers according to the latest CDW IT Monitor. While confidence is on an uptick and spending is showing small gains, budget recovery has been slow. “Given the current economy, many IT decision-makers are displaying a cautious optimism,” said Thomas E. Richards, president and chief operating officer, CDW. “CIOs are looking at every IT investment in terms of how it makes sense for the business and our data shows they are still spending on key investments including software and hardware – particularly mobile devices, virtualization and security.”
